Pupil Review:

“During our fieldwork to Stratford, East London, we were lucky enough to have a guided tour of the East Village with Nick Edwards who was involved with the huge regeneration project. He showed us around the Olympic Village, which held over 23,000 athletes and officials during the 2012 Olympic Games. It was a huge project, with 6,000 builders working on 27 hectares of land. The village underwent a huge £100 million refurbishment after the games and is now a huge collection of Code 4 sustainable housing. 49% of the village is used for social housing, owned by the Housing Association, with 600 council houses for locals. The other 51% is used for high-end shared ownership properties, popular with international businesses as temporary homes to rent. The trip taught me a lot about different fieldwork skills and how to apply them in my GCSE, and the guided tour gave me a lot of interesting insight into the regeneration of Stratford.”
